Lake Ridge Academy’s Ted DeMarco Scores 1,000 Career Points

Lake Ridge Academy’s Ted DeMarco’22 led the Upper School Boys’ basketball team win against Heritage Christian School on his way to reaching 1,000 career points on February 8th.

Ted DeMarco is a senior guard on the Lake Ridge Academy Royals Upper School Boys’ basketball team. He has been with the team since his freshman year, but his junior year season was canceled due to COVID. As a senior and prolific scorer, he is now leading the Royals back onto the court and into the OHSAA playoffs.

On February 8th, Lake Ridge celebrated senior night for the team honoring two players, including Ted. The Royals played Heritage Christian School, and led by Ted’s 27-point performance, managed to win the game by a final score of 61-55. This point total was enough for Ted to reach 1,000 career points, putting him in the same company as Michaela Harrison and Alex Hansen as the only Lake Ridge Academy Royals on record to accomplish this milestone.

Lake Ridge Academy Director of Athletics Peter Eckendorf said of the milestone. “Doing it on senior night, in front of a packed house of Lake Ridge students and faculty was really special. Ted has put in the hard work all four years and it has paid off. The school should be proud to have someone like Ted as their own.” The Royals next game will be on February 22nd in the OHSAA playoffs.
